Re-NEET 2026 marks one of the most extensive security and logistics overhauls undertaken by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the NEET-UG examination. This follows the cancellation of the May 3 examination due to alleged paper leak incidents. The government, along with the NTA, is now operating in emergency mode to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination on June 21, 2026. Below is a detailed guide about all the security measures and guidelines that a candidate needs to adhere to.

Latest News & Announcements

  • Exam Duration Extended: The NTA has extended the exam duration by 15 minutes so that the students can have enough time to take the test and complete their OMR sheets. The time of the new exam will be from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM.

  • Official WhatsApp Alerts & Fraud Warnings: To combat misinformation, the NTA is actively sending centre updates and admit card reminders directly via SMS, email, and WhatsApp.

  • Verify the source: Legitimate SMS messages will only come from the sender ID "NICPEP", and emails from "no-reply.neet.nta@nic.in".

  • Massive IAF Deployment: The Indian Air Force has reportedly conducted around 200 Sorties, which involve the use of transport aircraft and Mi-17 helicopters for transporting sealed question papers at 18 regional centres.

  • Free Bus Travel: In order to remove the logistics issues of the students, seven states, namely Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, Odisha, Uttarakhand, and Andhra Pradesh, have announced free bus travel for candidates appearing in the examination.

Systemic Security and Anti-Leak Protocols

To restore the integrity of the examination, the NTA has completely redesigned the custody chain of the question papers and its operational framework.

  1. Lockdown of Paper Setters: All personnel involved in the preparation, translation, and moderation of the question paper have been isolated in an undisclosed location. They have been completely cut off from mobile networks and internet access until the completion of the test.

  2. Air Force Transportation: An unusual step has been taken whereby the Indian Air Force (IAF) will be airlifting the question papers for confidential use to 18 key regional hubs across the country.

  3. Cyber Vigilance and Telegram Ban: To curb cheating networks and the spread of fake paper leak claims, Telegram has reportedly been restricted until June 22. This has been done because of the message editing feature of Telegram, which has been turned off by the Centre.

Key insight: The NTA has compartmentalised the entire process (from printing to distribution), ensuring no single individual or group has access to the complete operational chain.

Exam Day Entry and Verification

Security at the 5000+ examination centres has been significantly intensified. Candidates must expect a rigorous, multi-step entry process and should aim to arrive early.

Frisking and Checking

It is Mandatory for all applicants. Candidates will undergo strict physical frisking using high-sensitivity metal detectors immediately upon arrival at the centre.

Biometric Authentication

This process also involves Aadhaar verification. Candidates must undergo mandatory fingerprint or facial verification before entering the examination hall. In case of failure of the verification process due to any problems with hardware, fingerprints, or even because of a disconnect from the UIDAI server, candidates will not be denied entry.

Multi-Layer Identity Verification

Expect the entry to take longer than usual. Candidates will undergo a multi-layered identity check:

  1. Aadhaar-linked Biometrics: Mandatory fingerprint authentication for every candidate after the initial physical frisking.

  2. Live Facial Recognition: Live photography at the centre will be cross-referenced with your application photo to prevent impersonation and the use of proxy candidates.

AI & Forensic CCTV Monitoring

All centres are continuously under CCTV monitoring connected to the centralised NTA control room. Additionally, the NTA has informed the Supreme Court that all CCTV footage will undergo post-exam forensic analysis, employing AI software for any suspicious coordination that might have been missed during live monitoring.

Revised Exam Day Schedule

Because of the enhanced security checks, arriving early is absolutely critical. Late entry will not be permitted under any circumstances.

These regulations, set up by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the NEET 2026 test, are designed to ensure a fair and transparent examination environment. Any violation of the dress code, possession of prohibited items or bringing in an unauthorised item may result in delay at the security entrance or disqualification.

Official NTA Dress Code for Re-NEET 2026

The general rule of thumb is to keep your clothing light, simple, and entirely free of hidden pockets or metal.

NEET Re-exam Dress Code for Male Candidates

  1. Allowed: Plain, light-colored T-shirts or shirts with half-sleeves, and simple trousers or pants.

  2. Prohibited: Full-sleeve shirts, hoodies, jackets, or sweatshirts. Avoid clothes with large buttons, multiple zip pockets, heavy graphics, or heavy embroidery. Kurta-pyjamas are not allowed.

  3. Footwear: Only simple slippers or thin-soled sandals are permitted. Closed shoes, boots, and sneakers are strictly banned.

NEET Re-exam Dress Code for Female Candidates

  1. Allowed: Simple, light-colored kurtis, half-sleeve tops, plain salwar-kameez, leggings, or trousers.

  2. Prohibited: Clothes with heavy embroidery, sequins, brooches, metallic buttons, layers, or deep pockets.

  3. Footwear: Slippers or low-heeled sandals. High heels, thick-soled shoes, or boots are completely prohibited.

  4. Hair & Accessories: Hair should be open or tied back with a plain rubber band. No metallic hairpins, clips, or complex headbands.

Important on Ornaments: All jewellery pieces, including earrings, nose pins, rings, necklaces, anklets, and metal bracelets, must be removed before arriving at the centre.

Customary or Religious Attire

Students who opt to wear traditional attire (e.g., Hijab, Burqa, Turban, Kara, or Kirpan) are permitted to wear them. However, they must reach the exam centre before 12:30 PM and inform the security officials. This will provide ample time for same-gender security personnel to conduct the required frisking.

What to Bring vs. What to Leave Behind

Candidates are permitted to carry only a limited number of approved items into the examination hall. To help students avoid misinformation, NTA has also established a verified WhatsApp channel (blue tick) to share official updates and help candidates avoid scams and misinformation. The NTA follows a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding unauthorised items. You should not bring any stationery from outside because the exam centre will provide you with the required stationery.

Permitted Items (Must Bring)

Prohibited Items (Strictly Banned)

Printed NEET 2026 Admit Card (with a 4x6 postcard photo affixed to the proforma sheet)

All Stationery: Your own pens, pencils, erasers, scales, geometry boxes, or plastic pouches. (NTA provides a blue/black ballpoint pen inside)

Original Valid Photo ID (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License)

Electronic Gadgets: Mobile phones, smartwatches, digital bands, Bluetooth earphones, health trackers, calculators, or cameras.

2–3 Passport-Size Photos (same as the one uploaded in your registration form)

Personal Items: Wallets, purses, handbags, belts, caps, sunglasses, or keys with metallic keychains.

Special Relaxation for Diabetic Candidates

Diabetic candidates are granted certain medical exemptions. They are permitted to have sugar tablets, fruit such as bananas, apples, and oranges, and a clear plastic water bottle with them in the hall. But foods that are packed, such as sandwiches and chocolates, will still not be allowed inside the hall.
