Marks for Written Examination: The board examination of CISCE is awarded the maximum marks of 80 out of 100 for almost all the subjects. It is this part of the assessment that the candidates spend maximum time preparing for and is the main contributing factor towards their final grades.
Marks for Internal Assessment/Practical Exams: The marks for internal assessments or practical exams for the remaining 20 out of 100 marks are assessed by the candidate’s respective schools and then forwarded to CISCE. They are then added up to give the marks out of 100.

Best of Five Aggregate: CISCE uses the marks scored by students in their best of five subjects for the purposes of ranking and for making admission decisions. The best five subjects include English, without which no aggregate can be calculated.
Minimum Passing Requirement: If a student scores at least 33 marks (Grade D) in all the subjects, the student is termed as having passed the ICSE exam. Failure to score the said marks makes the student fail in that particular paper.

Know your cut-off point. If your current score is at 58%, then all it takes is 3 extra marks to get into the B2 zone. Some targeted practice sessions in your weaker areas will take you there much more easily than you think.
Consider internal assessments as important. Due to the 20 marks from your school's assessments, your entire academic year will count towards the board examinations.
Pay attention to English. English is required for the purpose of the best of five in the calculation of your ICSE score. This means a good English score makes a huge contribution to your ICSE scores.
Practice papers from last year. ICSE questions are designed in such a way as to test whether you understand the concepts thoroughly and can express your answer properly. Practising previous years' papers is perhaps one of the best strategies you can apply in order to increase your marks.
